The Bemis Performance Packaging facility in Edgewood, NY (Suffolk County) has an opportunity for a Fluid Services Assistant.  This individual provides support in the administration of records related to ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing Inks, Solvents, and Adhesives in a large volume ink consumption department generated by high speed 10-color flexographic printing presses.


Essential Functions



  • Acts as an Environmental, Health & Safety leader and puts EHS first in all responsibilities.
  • Assures compliance with all EHS policies and initiatives.
  • Assures the hazardous waste room meets all regulations as outlined by RCRA, NYS DEC, and local authorities.
  • Coordinates outgoing shipments of Hazardous Waste with the disposal company as well as the documentation required by NYS DEC.


  • Places orders for ink and drum solvent in accordance with production requirements.
  • Monitors and tracks order delivery status to ensure materials are received on time.
  • Enters received and issued products to the ink system allowing for real-time data in management of ink usage and waste.
  • Participates in World Class Operations Management Teams (WCOM) in support of Continuous Improvement Methodology.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, orderly work area.
  • Weighs and records empty totes and residual weights for vendor credit.
  • Coordinates the return of empty totes with freight carriers as appropriate.
  • Maintains data base of Certificates of Analysis.
  • Maintains filing system.
  • Conducts month-end inventories and issues reports as required.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned (MP2 data entry)




  • High School diploma or equivalent; with 1-2 years related experience in raw material administration, warehousing or receiving. 



  • Demonstrated knowledge of Inks, Solvents & Adhesives sufficient to place orders, maintain paperwork, inventory, and coordinate clerical functions in support of accurate, timely product receipt and usage.
  • Competent knowledge of personal computers and software such as Microsoft, ink system, Color Management Systems such as X-Rite and Color-Cert, SAP knowledge or experience preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.  

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without accommodation.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a manufacturing environment, primarily within the ink and press departments in and around moving machinery and equipment, chemicals, solvents and fumes with frequent use of a computer.    

May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
